Zodeen / Moving off Project Online

Project Online has retired. Bring your plans to Zodeen.

Save your plans as Project XML or a spreadsheet, import them, and get portfolio forecasts, capacity across all your work and PMO reports the same day.

What happened

Microsoft announced on 5 September 2025 that Project Online would retire. New customers could not buy it from 1 October 2025, and it retired on 30 September 2026.

Where Microsoft points

Planner (with the premium plans), Project Server Subscription Edition on your own servers, or Dynamics 365 Project Operations. Microsoft provides no automatic migration tool.

What a PMO still needs

One view of every project, capacity across projects and everything else people do, honest forecasts and reports leadership can trust. That is what Zodeen is built for.

Moving takes an afternoon

  • Save your plans: From Project desktop: File → Save As → XML. From Planner: export the plan to Excel and save it as CSV. A Primavera P6 .xer works too.
  • Import them: In Zodeen: Controls → Import a plan. Pick the file; Zodeen reads it in your browser and shows what came across before anything is saved.
  • Check and create: The import report lists the tasks, links, milestones and owners it found, and anything it had to simplify, such as start-to-start links. Then create the project.
  • Add capacity: Add people’s time off from your calendars, BambooHR or a CSV export, and holidays for your country, so capacity and forecasts reflect real availability.

What comes across

  • Tasks, phases and summary structure
  • Start, finish and baseline dates
  • Percent complete and status
  • Dependencies (finish-to-start; other link types are kept for the schedule checks)
  • Milestones
  • Resources as task owners
  • Costs, for earned value in dollars

What you gain

  • P50, P85 and P90 go-live dates from 1,000 simulated finishes per project
  • Capacity across every project, time off and other work
  • Five PMO reports: executive, delivery, capacity, cost and risks
  • Steering committee packs compared with the last meeting
  • DCMA 14-point schedule checks and earned value
  • Isabella’s daily stand-up and weekly report, every number checked against the plan
